Environment Canada’s Eastgate Building boasts to have Alberta’s largest Photo Voltaic system
The new Eastgate Environment Canada Office Building is a stunning structure in southeast Edmonton. Manasc Isaac Architects unique design is a three-storey office building that will achieve LEED Gold certification, as it was designed around fundamental and sustainable design principles that take advantage of southern solar exposure and a green development site. It makes efficient use of space while still retaining a bold design. The Eastgate Office building aims to stand out in the context of a suburban office park by its bold form and massing on the street.
As part of my Renewable Energy project for this year, I have volunteered my time to capture some of the 640 module solar panels being installed by Clifton Lofthaug’s team from Great Canadian Solar. Gordon Howell, of Howell Mayhew Engineering, provided the design details for this large scale PV system. Great to see solar being used on such a large scale commercial application. Mother Nature will be happy!
