Had a chance to scoot down to Calgary late Friday to capture some dusk and sunrise shots of the new Telus Spark facility. Situated just west of the Deerfoot north of Memorial Drive, the Telus Spark building is a unique piece of architecture. It’s design makes use of thermal skinned panels supplied and installed by Thermo Design to clad the exterior. The panels are not totally visible and somewhat hidden by a metal grate detail that surrounds the majority of the building. There are window openings in the metal grate that allow you to see the panels by day but they do not really come to life until the sun goes down. Similar to a theatre production when the lights dim – WOW – the building takes on a new life. What a treat to shoot architectural designs like this and bring the captures to life as the evening light drops.
